In My Face

Have you ever felt anxious for a family member or friend to arrive at a party or special event? I totally have but not this time. Well, I wasn’t that excited to see a Grey Wolf travel trailer in my face. Just the words on the trailer made me think that a real wolf is growling and baring it’s teeth at me while I’m preparing for my pre teen years.

On my first move I had just turned five so I really didn’t care. I just went along and held my dad’s hand on the plane to Florida. My second move not so much. In the rental house on West Bay Vista Dr. my dad spread the news while typing on a laptop and sitting In a tan love seat. And let me tell you I literally cried a river. I was so afraid of losing my best friend’s Bailey and Ella and not being able to go to AWANA with my Mamaw every Wednesday. Now let me tell you about my third move which I really haven’t experienced yet.

My Dad and Mom saw some videos of people doing the traveling in trailers or RV’s with 2 or 3 kids and let the thought drop a little until they saw something unbelievable to them – parents doing it with 12 kids! They immediately talked to us about it and we all said yes without thinking.

Now that I’ve had time to actually think about it there are some things that I’m afraid of losing. I’ve had some really good friendships with a couple of girls in my 4th grade home room and the next door class. I love all of them like sisters and I’m afraid of losing contact and that they will forget who I am. On May 1, 2014 I was welcomed into the National Elementary Honor Society for 4th and 5th grade. We have meetings every month and I will be on the road. My teachers both said that I could do Skype for all the meetings. I know that I could still do that but it wont be the same. When I moved from the rental house to Brandon,Florida I felt like this would always be my home. I have wonderful friends here and an awesome house. You might know the feeling in your heart that you love something so much and you don’t want to let it go. I have that feeling in my heart that I don’t want to leave the house that I’ve lived in for four years of my life.

As I said before I’ve lived in the Bloomingdale house for four years and I’m not ready to let it go. Then all of a sudden this miracle happens – my Dad tells me to imagine all the awesome things that I would miss out on if I didn’t go. So now what I mainly focus on is the optimistic things about it.

For example the Junior Ranger program that happens at almost every National Park. Since every National Park has a history there is something to learn. I went to St. Augustine for my 8th birthday and we went to the Castillo de San Marcos fort and they handed me a booklet. I had to go around the fort and gather information and write it down in the booklet. After I was done I went back up to the front and the lady handed me a badge and a iron on patch. That day I was officially a Jr. Ranger.

Another good thing about the adventure is the activities I get to do. It’s not every day you get to snorkel and see coral along with catching about 10 fish. You also get to stay outside all day and take your time looking and observing fish in Key Largo or even slurp clouds from the top of The Statue Of Liberty.

I’ll have to admit that I am going to miss the space but when you think about it your living all over the US! When you compare the negative to the positive it might not be food but it is still mouth watering.

Trust me it’s not that bad once you actually think about it.

Without further-ado – I, Isabella Marie Jones, commit myself to this adventure.
